#339 Pastor goes soft on same-sex marriage, loses his church

A pastor in Washington State lost his congregation and likely his ordination because he went soft on the issue of same-sex marriage. He wrote an interesting blog post recently, defending his position. I felt the need to respond, not as a theologian, but as a common sinner, having to fight temptation to sin in various ways every day in my own life.

There are many Christians who look down on gay people while they themselves gossip, cheat on their taxes, cheat on their spouses, and commit myriad other sins. ALL sin misses the mark. Period. To tell your congregation that a particular category of sin isn’t anymore, because “times have changed” or you’ve “evolved on the issue…” does them a disservice.
